Rev#1: In essence, the work done during this thesis is of great interest, providing further insights concerning the ecology of freshwater archaea and their implication in the nitrogen and carbon biogeochemical cycles of stratified water bodies. Hence, this work can certainly be defended, though I suggest some minor improvements in several areas that would greatly strengthen the manuscript.
